Colorado has many places with beautiful scenery and picturesque locations. One of my favorite places to go with family just to relax and hangout is Breckenridge, Colorado! A beautiful mountain town just South of Silverthorne, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Denver and 45 minutes from Vail.
Breckenridge is a beautiful place and perfect for a family to visit. there are many fun things to do and amazing place to capture possibly some of the best pictures. there are some must do’s when you visit Breckenridge.
1 Day Itinerary – Spring/Summer
Downtown Breck is one of the best places to just hangout with family and go shopping. There are shops, places to eat and scenery all around. the buildings are cute and aesthetic. Shops range from popcorn to clothes to even book stores!
Go to the River
The Blue River runs through Breckenridge. It runs through downtown Breck for a beautiful spot to drink a coffee from Clint’s Coffee Shop, or dipping your feet in the fresh mountain water!
Visit Isak Heartstone the Troll!
Isak heartstone is a popular troll in Breckenridge. You have to take a small trail to get to it but its a must see when visiting. This is a 15 foot tall wooden troll made by artist Thomas Bambo.
Go On a Hike!
All throughout Breckenridge there are many trails you can take to get in a little workout. You can google to find certain ones you want to explore! there are ones on more flat land or you can hike up some mountains. There might also be brochures at your hotel with some good hiking trails near by.
In almost all towns they host seasonal activities. Breckenridge being a skiing town, knows what activities to do all year round especially during the off seasons to give people something fun to do and attend.
There are festivals throughout the year in Breck. Summer in Breck is packed full of events and festivals. The season starts off with a food and wine festival in July. There is a summer beer festival, Bacon and Bourbon Hogfest, Labor Day weekend great rubber duck race and more.
1 Day Itinerary – Fall
Fall in Breckenridge brings the perfect temperatures for walking around downtown! Just like in the spring and summer, downtown is packed with activities and events in the fall. Oktoberfest, the Breckenridge Wine Classic, Breckenridge Film Festival and so much more!
1 Day Itinerary – Winter
Believe it or not, winter is still a great time to walk around and experience Breckenridge! Events in the winter include the International Snow Sculpture Championships, and holiday lighting and a race of Santa’s!
Of course the winter brings the thing mountain lovers enjoy most. SNOW! Grab a pair of skis or a snowboard and head over to one of the many lifts on the mountains, head up, and ski! If skiing or snowboarding is not your thing, there are plenty of other options available! Snowshoeing, snow tubing, snowmobiling and more!
If you are looking for a unique experience, about 25-30 minutes outside of Breckenridge in Dillion, Colorado, you can visit the Ice Castles.
There are six locations across North America where ice castles of this magnitude can be seen. Dillion, Colorado is one of those locations. Prices range from $17-$21 for adults and $12-$16 for children.
